Day 6 n 7 - Tauranga

Day 6 - Doing nothing at hostel

It's raining, so there's no picking job for us.

Woke up to make our breakfast, planning to go to Mt. Mounganui,

unfortunately, it was raining, therefore we just stay in our room. I slept from like 11am - 3pm, saw the sun shining, went out for a walk aka shopping. LOL
Evening view from our balcony

I bought a Deuter pouch for $20 from Mountain  Design.

2 pairs of kids wool socks for $10 Microfibre towel at $5 from Kathmandu

and beanie at $3 from Farmers

We cooked dinner at night, and met some Malaysians who came over to visit their friends. It's good to know more friends and to know more travel companion.

According to them, kiwi picking job is tough. Well, their team is harder to earn money. So, they chose to move to another place (Coral Kiwi) to work in packhouse (Seeka). However, there isn't much vacancy available, so only 1 out of 3 will be working, while the rest will be still waiting to get the job.

We chatted till quite late at night, almost 12am, and we went to bed.

Day 7 - First day of kiwi picking.

Put our alarm at 5:30am to wake up, as we need to stand by at the kitchen at 7am.
Woke up, prepared our lunch and took our breakfast and wait at the kitchen, to confirm the weather so that we can work or not.
Waited until 7:30am, and Pam, our team leader said that we shall go back to sleep and stand by again at 11am.

Went back to sleep like a pig, and woke up at 10:30am to prepare to work. We were happy when we saw the sun shining brightly.

We carpool with a couple of French to the farm. It took around 20 minute drive, and we reached Te Puna.

Kiwi picking ain't easy. We had to pick as fast as we can, so that we can get more bins to earn more.
The speed ain't the tough thing for me.

The toughest for me is the kiwi bag is heavy. And the kiwis are so high, that my hand couldn't reach some of them. :((

Unfortunately, we only managed to work for 2 hours, then the rain God decided to ask us to go for rest. It's so sad that it rains, coz we can only worked for 2 hours, and total we can only earn $28/person, which we are not satisfied with.

For now, we pray for sunny day everyday, hoping that there's kiwi picking job for us.

So, at 1pm, we go back to hostel for a rest, took our lunch and we went out again for our shopping.

Bought a kid size long pants at $20 from Kathmandu.

Went back cook for dinner, and realized most of the people who cooked are guys. I was enjoying myself watching the guys to cook dinner xD

There's one guy was so good, that he shared his bread with us. He made it, and it really taste awesome!!

Took my shower and writing this while having my hot chocolate. :D

Good nite and wish us luck so that there will be more kiwi picking jobs for us.
