Working life in Singapore

Working life in Singapore
My first job, was at Singapore, at Metallkraft.
METALLKRAFT, a Norwegian MNC, recycles silicon carbide (SiC) and glycol from spent slurry for solar wafer manufacturers
Introduced by Pei Shan, working as lab technician.
Salary :  Basic $1.8k
Working hours :  8am – 8pm ( day shift) with allowance $10
Working hours : 8pm – 8am (night shift ) with allowance $20
Job Scope:
Received samples from production.
Conduct pH, conductivity, density, viscosity, particle size and circularity of sample.
Luckily I managed to learnt ICP with acid digestion before I left.

Metalkraft is located at Tuas South Ave 14, which is freaking far from town. The nearest MRT is Joo Koon, and you have to take 15-20 minutes cab to reach there, which will cost you around $10/trip.
Initially, I stayed near Jurong Point (Boon Lay MRT) with Pei Ee.
Company bus was provided from Joo Koon MRT, thus I have to take walk to MRT from my house and took MRT 2 stations to Joo Koon.
Then, I moved out to Choa Chu Kang. Bus was provided at MRT. All I need is just to walk 15 from my house.

Food is the worst part! As mentioned earlier, it was very far. All we eat at tapao food from outside. The canteen is 10 min walk away and we chose not to walk, since the weather is freaking hot. If I’m working for night shift, it would be worst of the worst! You have nothing to eat, but to tapao food from outside before going to work. Damn! I couldn’t stay in this kinda situation anymore!!!

On August 2011, I decided to resign and back to Penang for good :D
